What Bothers You?
As we try to discern God's chazown (vision) for our lives we have to listen to our hearts. We have to look at what bothers us. I'm not talking about things like people who drive while putting on make up (I followed a woman doing that this morning). Or the people with 16 items in the 15 items or less check-out line (you know who you are!). I'm talking about things that aren't right with the world. Things that we look at and get disturbed by. Things that we know break God's heart. Things that we get prodded or prompted to do something about.
For me, it's churches going through the motions. It's churches that are failing to reach out to their community. It's churches that are nothing more than a social club. It's churches that fail to see themselves as the hope of the world.
That reality bothers me so much that I decided to become a pastor and lead a church. And that reality bothers me so much that I invest time teaching future church leaders at Bethel Seminary.
What bothers you? And...what are you doing about it? The answer to the first question will point you to your chazown. More on this topic this weekend at Crossroads. Hope to see you then.
