Olympic Kick-off

Who gets to stand on God's platform and receive His highest award...His gold medal? What is God looking for in a person's life? Why do some "make it" and other don't? Those are the questions we'll be answering starting this weekend at Crossroads. Our series is called, "Going For The Gold". We'll be studying the lives of several Old Testament characters--many winners and some miserable losers.

This weekend? The life of Abraham. The man who passed the "ultimate test". See you then!!

The Midnight Hours

I can't tell you how many people walked out of this past weekend's service saying, "You were speaking directly to me." Seems like many of the Crossroads family are going through some tough times. Jesus said to expect difficulty. Trials are par for course as we live in the "land of Uz" (see Job 1). I'm so glad that God does some of His best work during the midnight hours. He's shaping and forming us. My prayer for all of us is that like Job, we'll hang on long enough to see God in a way we've never seen Him before.

I also had a bunch of questions thrown at me about the Book of Job. Most were dealing with the whole conversation between God and Satan. I don't understand it all. What comforts me, though, is that Satan's power is obviously limited to what God allows. Satan is on a short leash. I'm looking forward to the day when Satan is bound and banished once and for all. Until then, church, know that we are all in a battle. Suit up (see Ephesians 6:10-20 which talks about our battle gear), and fight valiantly.
