This Weekend--Baptizo!
It's "baptizo" weekend at Crossroads. Baptizo is the Greek word for baptism. It means to dip, immerse, or submerge. We will be submerging over 40 people. I love this yearly event. I love it when people meet Christ and then publicly identify with Christ through baptism.
These folks are saying, "I have decided to follow Jesus." Baptizo is a beautiful picture--as the person is dunked, it's a picture of their sins being buried through Christ's death. As the person rises out of the water, it's a picture of their new life in Christ.
Join us as we celebrate God's transforming power at our main services. Then come to Bayport Lakeside Park on Sunday as we picnic and cheer on those being baptized. It all starts at 1 pm.

Why do Baptists insist on immersion? It is baffling that a Christian denomination that shuns all trappings of "Catholic ritual" would insist that the Christian rite of Baptism be performed in such a rigid, ritualistic manner that they even surpass the strict adherence to ritualistic form of the Roman Catholic Church!
Even if you believe that baptism is only for the purpose of a public profession of your faith, that it has nothing to do with salvation or the forgiveness of sins, why DEMAND that this rite be performed EXACTLY "as Jesus did it"??
Christianity is about the heart, not the external ritual!
